The mostly bare landscape of the “right of way” areas of Patrick Place will soon start to be spruced up thanks to a recent $500 grant from the Keep York County Beautiful Project offered by York County. The money is being used to buy shrubs and perennial flowers which will be planted by volunteers from our development. The hope is to create small garden-like settings that families can stroll through, or just appreciate when driving by. It’s expected this first grant will fund gardens in two spots, and that additional grants will be sought to beautify six additional areas in Patrick Place. Thank you to the folks at the offices of York County and special thanks to Kim Pettit for tipping off the Board of Directors about the availability of the grant. Duncan Scott wrote up the grant application, and he, along with George Miriello, and Vishnu Basdeo are spearheading the project. YOU CAN HELP! Our first planting session is this Friday, starting at 9:30 am. We have 34 shrubs that have been purchased and are waiting to be planted. We really could use your help, even if you don’t have a green thumb! Help beautify Patrick Place. Call Duncan at 310 968-3015 for details.
